I guess it is one of those times of the year when we have to fool with changing the time on our clocks. Let’s see. . . ah yes, “spring” forward. . . .
Pretty sure the time change will not have any affect on the fish. Wild critters tend to follow their own clock (Turkey Time). I will tell you that after Saturday many of us will have a little more daylight after work which may allow us to slip in more time on the water.
You can start many spirited discussions among anglers by asking what are the best times to fish? Early and late in the day, low-light periods are often prime times. If you can be on the water during a weather change, that can often be good too. During this time of year, early spring, warm afternoons can be the best times to fish. In addition, you can believe whatever moon phase, solunar, or farmer’s almanac table you wish.
I know a good stick who once said he would rather be on the water for a couple hours during the right time, than to spend hours and hours at the wrong time. Yes, I believe that too. However, even though we can make educated guesses when those right times might be, the bottom line is you just have to spend time on the water to find out.
We are due to experience one of our half a hundred deranged weather changes that will occur this spring. The bite might not be great once things swing back towards winter again. However, if you have the time this weekend, GO FISH!
The only thing I know for sure is NOTHING beats time on the water.
