Another Great Gobbler Experience in Nebraska!

I was fortunate enough to have another great gobbler experience this weekend here in Nebraska and was even able to bag yet another bearded bird in northern Douglas County yesterday! I had to really work to bag this adult gobbler with his thick 9-inch beard and 1-inch spurs. The toms were active but the birds were pretty well bunched up probably due to the weather. A Nice Opening Day Gobbler

Sharing a couple quick pics of a nice gobbler I was able to take on this beautiful opening day of Nebraska’s spring shotgun wild turkey hunting season in northern Douglas County. Practice Safety While Hunting Turkeys

Just Messin’ with the Turkeys

Spring Turkey Season Opens for Archers March 25

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska spring turkey hunting season opens for archers March 25. Spring turkey hunters must use archery equipment March 25-April 12 and may use either archery equipment or a shotgun April 13-May 31. Youth hunters must use archery equipment March 25-April 5 and may use either archery equipment or a shotgun April 6-May 31. Spring Turkey Permits Available Jan. 14

LINCOLN, Neb. – Spring turkey hunting permits for 2013 will be available from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission starting at 1 p.m. Central Time on Jan. 14. Each spring turkey permit allows a hunter to take one male or bearded female turkey with bow and arrow in the archery season or a shotgun in the shotgun season.
