Game and Parks to host virtual pre-K program entitled Nature Tails

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nature Tails, a virtual six-week series for pre-K children and their parents and caregivers, will be hosted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission every Tuesday starting Sept. 29. Each week, via Zoom, outdoor educators will read a nature-themed children’s book based on that week’s theme. There also will be an activity in which the children and their families can participate. National Reptile Awareness Day art contest begins

LINCOLN, Neb. — Students across Nebraska are invited to celebrate National Reptile Awareness Day 2020 through an art competition hosted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Young artists in grades K-12 may submit their original artwork of a Nebraska native reptile by Oct. 14 at outdoornebraska.org/reptileart. Each student that submits a digital piece of artwork will receive a Reptile-ology magazine. Fremont Lakes SRA to Host Snakes of Nebraska Program

LINCOLN – Join Dennis Ferraro, a University of Nebraska-Lincoln herpetologist, for his program “Meet the Snakes of Nebraska Up Close and in Person” at Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area on Sept. 11. Ferraro will display and discuss snakes that call Nebraska home from 2 to 4 p.m. at the park’s group lodge. Fremont Lakes SRA is located just west of Fremont in Dodge County. LINCOLN – The snakes of Nebraska will be displayed and discussed during a workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 19-20 at the Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium.
