Changes made to the fall trout stocking schedule

LINCOLN, Neb. – A change has been made to the fall stocking schedule of rainbow trout by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The scheduled stocking of the Niobrara State Park Pond (750 fish) for the week of Oct. 11 has been delayed and will take place the week of Oct. 18. Fort Kearny State Recreation Area No. 6 and Holdrege City Lake were partially stocked this week, but the majority of the stocking has been delayed until the week …

Trout in the Classroom application deadline is Aug. 31

LINCOLN, Neb. – Applications are being accepted through Aug. 31 for Nebraska’s Trout in the Classroom program for the 2021-2022 school year. This program, sponsored by the Nebraska Environmental Trust and a Nebraska Trout Unlimited chapter, is for teachers interested in raising live fish in their classroom and using the tank in countless lesson plans and everyday activities. LINCOLN, Neb. – There is good news for south-central Nebraska trout anglers. Elm Creek in Webster County will be stocked with 1,000 rainbow trout March 31. The Calamus Fish Hatchery will stock the trout to enhance spring fishing opportunities. Fisheries biologists with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission evaluated the stream on Elm Creek Wildlife Management Area on March 29 and determined the flows were fairly high and the water clear. Two Rivers SRA trout lake to open March 6

LINCOLN, Neb. – The trout lake at Two Rivers State Recreation Area in Douglas County will open Saturday, March 6 for family fishing. The lake will be stocked with 10,000 11- to 12-inch rainbow trout in time for the opener. All trout caught in the lake must be harvested and not released.
