Special Deer Hunts at Mahoney SP, Platte River SP, Schramm Park SRA

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is offering special antlerless deer hunting opportunities within Eugene T. Mahoney and Platte River state parks (SP), as well as Schramm Park State Recreation Area (SRA). Successful applicants will be issued a special access permit that allows them to hunt antlerless deer in designated areas of a park on designated dates, using specific equipment. Family Rendezvous and Muzzleloader Sight-In Oct. 13

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Family Rendezvous and Muzzleloader Sight-In will be Oct. 13 at the Roger G. Sykes Outdoor Heritage Education Complex at Platte River State Park near Louisville. The shooting range will be open to the public from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for free. Visitors may try out a variety of primitive weapons: hatchets, atlatl, tomahawks, longbows and muzzleloaders. On the Platte Close to Home

This past week, Game & Parks friends and I enjoyed kayaking and canoeing the Platte River just south/southwest of the Omaha-metro area and sure had a nice trip. A Mega Meeting

Yesterday, we had one our Southeast Regional/District Mega Meetings of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission at Platte River State Park’s Mallet Lodge near Louisville. Monthly meetings (some with work integration) are held within each of the four districts the agency has. Dove Workshop Scheduled for Platte River SP

LINCOLN, Neb. – Brush up on wing-shooting skills and attend the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s dove workshop and clay shoot Aug. 23 at Platte River State Park. The event will take place from 6-9 p.m. at the Roger G. Sykes Outdoor Heritage Education Complex. Topics will include hunting opportunities, strategies, equipment and recipes for the harvest. This First Shots workshop will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the Roger G. Sykes Outdoor Heritage Education Complex. Platte River State Park to Host Beyond BOW Workshop

LINCOLN, Neb. – Experience Platte River State Park in the spring with a daylong Beyond Becoming an Outdoors-Woman workshop April 27. The workshop will include horseback riding for beginners, Dutch oven cooking and shooting skills (archery, shotgun and rifle). Participants must be at least 18 years of age. The $50 registration fee includes meals, but not camping or lodging. A park entry permit is required. Registration and fees are required by April 19.
