Platte River SP’s Education Complex Opens for Spring on April 25

LINCOLN – The Roger G. Sykes Outdoor Heritage Education Complex at Platte River State Park will be open for its spring season on weekends from April 25 through May 17. The complex, which will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., offers the public a wide variety of shooting sports disciplines in a safe and family-friendly environment. First Day Hike Planned at Platte River State Park

LINCOLN – Get outside for some holiday exercise during Platte River State Park’s First Day Hike on Jan. 1. Hikers will meet at 2 p.m. at the Walter G. Scott Lodge for the moderate 1-mile hike on the Observation Tower Trail. Park staff will lead the hike to the top of the tower, then down toward a waterfall before looping back to the lodge. LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is offering special antlerless deer hunting opportunities within Eugene T. Mahoney and Platte River state parks (SP), as well as Schramm Park State Recreation Area (SRA). Successful applicants will be issued a special access permit that allows them to hunt antlerless deer in designated areas of a park on certain dates, using specific equipment.
