Applications for paddlefish snagging permits will be accepted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission July 1-14. Applications begin at 1 p.m. Central time July 1. Mail applications must be received by Game and Parks’ Lincoln office by 5 p.m. CT July 14, while online applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. July 14. Bighorn sheep lottery applications begin April 18

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will accept applications for one 2022 bighorn sheep lottery permit beginning April 18. A $29 nonrefundable application fee must accompany each application. Only Nebraska residents 12 years and older are eligible for the lottery. It is unlawful to submit more than one application in a calendar year. Residents may receive only one permit in a lifetime. Commission approves Free-earned Landowner Elk Permit Program

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission amended its wildlife regulations to create the Free-earned Landowner Elk Permit Program at its Oct. 22 meeting in North Platte. In the program, a person who owns or leases at least 80 acres of farm- or ranchland for agricultural purposes qualifies for an either-sex elk permit following the verification of 10 general antlerless elk harvests; immediate family members are eligible for the permit. LINCOLN, Neb. – Applications may be made for Nebraska paddlefish snagging permits through July 14. Snagging of paddlefish and nongame fish is permitted Oct. 1-31 in the Missouri River from the Gavins Point Dam west of Yankton, South Dakota, downstream to the mouth of the Big Sioux River at mile marker 734, west of Sioux City, Iowa.
