LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission recently received $200,000 from the Nebraska Environmental Trust for the Nebraska Natural Legacy Project: New Approaches to Biodiversity Conservation. This is the third and final year of the grant project, totaling $570,000. These funds have been used to improve thousands of acres of habitat on private and public lands. LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has been awarded a $315,000 grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust for the Nebraska Natural Legacy Project: New Approaches to Biodiversity Conservation. The Nebraska Natural Legacy Project has been the blueprint for conservation of Nebraska’s plants, animals, and natural habitats since 2005. The plan identifies at-risk species, threats to those species, conservation actions, and prioritizes Biologically Unique Landscapes (BULs) for effectively conserving Nebraska’s biodiversity. LINCOLN, Neb. – The list of Nebraska species of greatest conservation need has been revised. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and other species experts recently reviewed and revised the list, which is identified in the State Wildlife Action Plan. The development and implementation of the Plan is the goal of the Nebraska Natural Legacy Project.
