Mormon Island SRA to reopen at 5 p.m. Aug. 8

LINCOLN, Neb. – Mormon Island State Recreation Area is scheduled to reopen at 5 p.m. on Aug. 8. It had closed the day before so crews could clean up tree damage from a storm. While the park’s roads and campgrounds will reopen, parts of the area will remain closed to the public while cleanup operations continue. Brush piles to be burned at several central Nebraska SRAs

LINCOLN, Neb. – Parks staff of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will burn brush piles, as weather allows, at several central Nebraska state recreation areas (SRA). Burns will take place at Calamus Reservoir SRA, Fort Kearny SRA, Mormon Island SRA, Windmill SRA and Victoria Springs SRA.
