LINCOLN, Neb. – A 60-year-old Kenesaw woman was injured and hospitalized following a collision of two personal watercraft July 4 at Harlan County Reservoir. The woman and a 33-year-old male relative from Kearney each was operating personal watercraft. As they accelerated to leave Patterson Harbor on the lake’s south shore, the female was struck from behind by the male operator, throwing her into the water. Fish salvaged from Harlan County Reservoir stilling basin

LINCOLN, Neb. – Game fish that remained after the Harlan County Reservoir stilling basin was drained were salvaged by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and returned to the lake for anglers to catch. In preparation for an inspection of the dam, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers drained the basin ahead of the Commission’s salvage effort Oct. 9-10. “It was successful,” said Brad Newcomb, the Commission’s southwest fisheries supervisor. “We put nearly 1,300 game fish back into the lake. …

LINCOLN – A health advisory remains in effect at Harlan County Reservoir in Harlan County after high levels of toxic blue-green algae were detected earlier this week. The elevated algae levels at Harlan County Reservoir were detected during testing by the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality. This is the second week a health alert has been in place at the reservoir. State High School Fishing Tournament Set for July 27

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska State High School Fishing Tournament will take place July 27 at Harlan County Reservoir near Alma. This third annual event is open to students in grades 9-12.
