The Candlelight Tour on Nov. 2 is back on the calendar at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park (SHP) near Fort Calhoun. Alexandria State Recreation Area (SRA) near Fairbury will remain open through Oct. 20 to accommodate a Halloween event Oct. 18-19. As a private and an infantryman from the 1820’s in the U.S. Army, I had the privilege of marching with men from Fort Atkinson’s Rifle Company and even pulling guard duty at the building of the Indian Agent this evening.
