2014 Fishing Forecast Available Statewide

LINCOLN – Anglers can start planning fishing vacations or researching their strategies for the year with the 2014 Fishing Forecast, a publication available from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The publication contains fish sampling data, along with a forecast of where anglers may find large quantities and large sizes of certain fish in various waters across the state. Robinson Reports: Slabbing Success

Though the weather has turned colder now, the fishing action has remained hot. The water temperatures have varied anywhere from 41 to 46 in the areas we’ve been fishing, but the fish have yet to slow down. At the Tri County canal system, the saugers are gathered in somewhat predictable areas and definitely stocking up for winter. We found them in water from 12 to 30 foot deep. Cops and Bobbers

Our Nebraska Game and Parks Commission family fishing trailer, several agency staffers and a host of volunteer fishing instructors were on hand today to lend assistance to some 70-80 folks who braved the high winds at Omaha’s Benson Park Lagoon and participated in the annual Cops and Bobbers fun fishing event for kids and families sponsored by Omaha Police. NE High School Anglers at Regional Bass Championship

At the FLW Southern Conference High School Bass Fishing Championship at Lake Texoma (with its 1,250 miles of shoreline) this Past Saturday, Payne Ahrens and Eric Soe of Gretna High School along with their boat caption, Cory Roll, had a great time and represented Nebraska and their hometown of Gretna well!
