Dead Timber SRA campground access road reopens

LINCOLN, Neb. – Construction has been completed and the access road to the Dead Timber State Recreation Area campground has reopened. The campground access road at the Dodge County park area was temporarily closed earlier in June so that it could be widened. Other road improvements and flood repairs also were made. A park entry permit is required of each vehicle entering the park. Permits may be purchased at OutdoorNebraska.org.

Public feedback encouraged in Dead Timber SRA virtual meeting

LINCOLN, Neb. – A plan to redevelop the flood-prone Dead Timber State Recreation Area is being created, and the public is encouraged to participate by giving feedback. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will host a virtual public meeting via Zoom at 5:30 p.m. Central time on March 23 to outline potential design concepts of the plan and take public comments. Access road to Dead Timber SRA now open

LINCOLN, Neb. – Access to Dead Timber State Recreation Area (SRA) in Dodge County now is available via County Road B off U.S. Hwy. 275. The area’s electrical campsites are available, as well. Dead Timber was damaged by the flooding of the Elkhorn River in March. Areas of the SRA remain walk-in only, and no vehicle traffic is allowed beyond any barricades. A park entry permit is required.

Riverview Marina SRA temporarily closed due to high water; other areas take precautions

LINCOLN, Neb. – Riverview Marina State Recreation Area (SRA) in Otoe County is temporarily closed to the public. Rising water levels in the Missouri River led Nebraska Game and Parks Commission staff to close the area Tuesday. Riverview Marina SRA is adjacent to the Missouri River and offers river access. LINCOLN – Heavy spring rains have led to soggy conditions at three state recreation areas in Nebraska. Louisville, Two Rivers and Dead Timber state recreation areas, all of which are adjacent to rivers, have all been affected by high water levels.
