Watercraft access limited, swimming beach closed at Summit Lake

LINCOLN, Neb. – A planned water-level drawdown of Summit Lake is underway, prompting the closure of the swimming beach and creating limited access for watercraft launching. A sediment basin maintenance project prompted the need to lower water levels at the Burt County reservoir. Water levels will be kept 6-8 feet below normal pool levels during construction, scheduled to be completed by spring 2022. LINCOLN, Neb. – The mansion and barn at Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park in North Platte will be closed for the weekend, Aug. 21-22, because of a staffing shortage. The grounds of the historical park and adjacent state recreation area will remain open. LINCOLN, Neb. – A portion of Branched Oak Wildlife Management Area in Lancaster County is closed to target shooting, effective immediately, for safety reasons. That closed area is south of West Raymond Road between NW 112th Street and NW 126th Street. Repairs begin on boat ramp area at Indian Cave State Park

LINCOLN, Neb. – Repairs begin this week on the boat ramp area at Indian Cave State Park, including silt removal, guardrail replacement and repairing the riprap along the banks of the area. The boat ramp remains closed until this work is completed, which is estimated to be two to three weeks. An entry permit is required of each vehicle entering Indian Cave State Park.

Schilling WMA temporarily closed to vehicles, access to other WMAs might be limited

LINCOLN, Neb. – Schilling Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Cass County is closed temporarily to vehicle traffic due to recent heavy rains that have made roads impassable. The closure is in effect on a daily basis until water recedes. In addition, access to the Peru Boat Ramp in Nemaha County and other WMAs in southeastern Nebraska might be limited because of wet conditions.
