Becoming an Outdoors Woman Empowers Women

The Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) program in Nebraska continues to grow and empower women. Nebraska was the second state to embrace this outdoor program started by Dr. Christine Thomas from Wisconsin in 1991. Rewarding!

Let me give you an update on some of what I have been up to lately. . . . BOW Workshop Empowers Women

Nestled in beautiful fall colors and cool temperatures of the Nebraska National Forest, the Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) workshop was held last weekend at the 4-H camp near Halsey. The BOW workshop is a place where women of all backgrounds and ages gather to learn more about the outdoors in a non-intimidating, friendly environment. 23 years of Firsts – Becoming an Outdoors-Woman

The 23rd Annual Nebraska Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Weekend took place this past weekend in the Nebraska National Forest – Bessey Unit, near Halsey, NE.  What a tremendous weekend it was, too.  Some great October weather was made even better as 110 adult women came together to talk nature, conservation, fishing, hunting and shooting. Great Outdoor Event for Women on WOWT 6 Outdoors

On my WOWT 6 Outdoor Report this week, I’ll be featuring  and promoting the 2014 Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) event coming up the first weekend in October at the Nebraska State 4-H Camp near Halsey. Space Still Remains for Halsey BOW

LINCOLN – Space still remains in this year’s Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program – the annual Sandhills retreat that teaches women of all ages various outdoor skills. The workshop is Oct. 3-5 at the national forest near Halsey. BOW is a program designed to encourage women to become active participants in the outdoors, including activities related to hunting, camping, boating, hiking and fishing. Not Too Late to Register for BOW Workshop

LINCOLN, Neb. – Plan a weekend outdoor adventure in the Sandhills this fall. Eighty women already have signed up for the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) workshop. There’s plenty of room for more. This hands-on skills workshop, scheduled for Oct. 4-6 at the State 4-H Camp near Halsey, gives women age 18 and older the opportunity to learn outdoor skills in a comfortable environment.
