LINCOLN, Neb. – A health alert remains in effect for Bluestem Lake in Lancaster County. During water testing, the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality detected elevated toxin levels produced by blue-green algal blooms in Bluestem Lake. Visitors to Bluestem State Recreation Area should avoid full body contact activities such as swimming, wading, skiing, jet skiing, etc. Non-contact activities such as boating, fishing and camping are OK. LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Game and Parks officials ask that visitors to Nebraska’s state parks and recreation areas refrain from hiding painted rocks so others may find and re-hide them. The practice of hiding rocks with painted messages is becoming more common at state and national parks across the United States, including in Nebraska. Family Fun Night will include fishing, tomahawk throwing, astronomy, Project Wild nature activities, aerial archery and hiking. LINCOLN, Neb. – A health alert remains in effect for Bluestem Lake in Lancaster County. A health advisory has been lifted at Willow Creek Lake in Pierce County. During water testing last week, the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality detected elevated toxin levels produced by blue-green algal blooms in Bluestem Lake.
