Riverview Marina State Recreation Area temporarily closed because of flooding

LINCOLN, Neb. – Riverview Marina State Recreation Area (SRA), which is located along the Missouri River in Otoe County, is closed until further notice because of flooding. Campgrounds, restrooms and other amenities are under water, and electricity to the park has been temporarily disconnected. After water levels recede, regional park staff will clear the area of debris before reopening the park to the public. Major fish die-off investigated at Olive Creek Lake

LINCOLN, Neb. – Low oxygen levels have caused a major die-off of fish at Olive Creek Lake, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The remaining fish population is suspected to be small. The die-off was reported by the public and investigated by Game and Parks on Aug. 16. LINCOLN, Neb. – Rockford Lake in Gage County remains on health alert. During water testing earlier this week, the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality detected elevated toxin levels produced by blue-green algal blooms in the lake. Visitors to Rockford Lake State Recreation Area (SRA) should avoid full body contact activities such as swimming, wading, skiing, jet skiing, etc. Non-contact activities such as boating, fishing and camping are OK. Playgrounds at Eugene T. Mahoney SP to close temporarily for renovation

LINCOLN, Neb. – The two outdoor playgrounds at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park (SP) will be closed temporarily starting Aug. 27 for renovation and installation of new equipment. The playgrounds will reopen once installation and surfacing are complete. Park guests may use playgrounds at Schramm Park and Louisville state recreation areas. A park entry permit is required of each vehicle entering these parks, including Mahoney SP.
