Lewis and Clark SRA holding lighted boat parade Sept. 6

LINCOLN, Neb. – The public is invited to Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area on Sept. 6 for the Second Annual Weigand Marina Parade of Lights. Set for 8 p.m., the lighted boat parade at Weigand Marina offers a fun display for onlookers, as well as a pirate-themed contest for boaters who register for the parade. LINCOLN, Neb. – A health alert for harmful algal blooms, also known as toxic blue-green algae, remains in effect at Willow Creek Reservoir in Pierce County, Rockford Lake in Gage County and Wagon Train Lake in Lancaster County. The alert has been removed at Calamus Reservoir in Loup and Garfield counties, Johnson Lake in Gosper and Dawson counties and Bluestem Lake in Lancaster County. Game and Parks encourages hunters to register on antlerless hunter database

LINCOLN, Neb. – In 2019, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission launched a new tool to help landowners address deer populations on their property. Because changes have been made to the program to make this tool more effective for landowners, all hunters will need to reregister in the program. Prescribed burns planned for some wildlife management areas

LINCOLN, Neb. – Prescribed burns are planned in the upcoming months on some Nebraska Game and Parks Commission wildlife management areas if weather conditions allow. Burns during the summer and fall can help set back undesirable plants that invade native prairies and other grasslands. LINCOLN, Neb. – Wetlands conditions throughout the state, including in the Rainwater Basin region of south-central Nebraska, are mixed this year, with some areas having an abundance of water and many other areas having gone dry over the past few months.
