Small-bore Silhouette Championships Set for Sept. 27

LINCOLN – The annual Nebraska High School Small-bore Silhouette Championships will be held Sept. 27 at the Pressey Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Custer County. This free competition is open to Nebraska high, junior high and middle school students who have received a certificate verifying completion of a hunter education program. Team competition is comprised of four-person teams in school, 4-H, and open categories. Shooters are not required to compete in teams. Dove Season Opens in Nebraska

LINCOLN – The statewide dove hunting season opened in Nebraska on Sept. 1 and will run through Oct. 30. The daily bag and possession limits are 15 and 45, respectively. Bag limits are for mourning, white-winged and Eurasian collared doves in aggregate. Nebraska residents 16 years and older and all nonresidents are required to have a valid Nebraska hunting permit, habitat stamp and Harvest Information Program (HIP) number. Tour Archaeological Sites at Fort Atkinson SHP

LINCOLN- September is Nebraska archaeology Month and staff of the Nebraska State Historical Society will lead tours of the archaeological sites at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park on Sept. 6-7. Nolan Johnson will lead a tour each day of the many structures and facilities on the park grounds. LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Board of Commissioners approved recommendations for the 2014 waterfowl and crow hunting seasons at a meeting Aug. 29 in Grand Island. Hunters May Enter Lottery for Deer Hunting Access on the Central Platte

LINCOLN – Hunters may enter a lottery to gain deer hunting access to Platte River Recreation Access (PRRA) lands in the central Platte River Valley, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and the Lincoln Children’s Zoo will provide students with disabilities a chance to engage in science exploration through sight, sound, touch and smell.
