Commission staff counted 758 deer in 429 square miles of the unit compared to 862 in the same areas in 2014. The data will be compared to mule deer numbers in other areas of the state …

Spring Break: Sporting Clays, Pheasants, Chukars, Fun and Memories

To get young people ‘outdoors’ these days, you have to be flexible and take advantage of any windows of opportunity that are there. Such was the case this past week when my 17 year-old Son Noah, a junior at Omaha’s Creighton Prep High School, had spring break. Noah had been bugging me to take him hunting in some fashion over his break from school. As adult sportsmen and women we all need to make time in our own busy schedules to take kids to the …

Second Season

We have had an “on again, off again” ice fishing season this year.  As the calendar rolled into February I was seeking treatment for depression after an unusually warm January had brought my ice fishing season to a premature end.  Then as it usually happens in Nebraska, the weather, the climate, changed and it got cold again and my ice season was re-born.  I was thrilled to have a second season.  Actually, with the freeze/thaw cycle that we had repeated …
