Reminder: Campers at Lakes McConaughy, Ogallala need reservations

LINCOLN, Neb. – With the holiday weekend coming, campers are reminded they will need a reservation to stay overnight at Lake McConaughy and Lake Ogallala state recreation areas. Campers should book their reservation at the two state recreation areas before leaving home. Reservations can be made online at NebraskaStateParks.ReserveAmerica.com, via mobile app RA Camping, or by phone at 308-284-8800 during business hours. LINCOLN, Neb. – The Hunters Helping the Hungry program is surveying meat processors that take deer in order to improve the delivery of the program to the public. Processors may request a survey by calling 402-471-5430 or emailing teresa.lombard@nebraska.gov. Survey responses are requested by April, 30, 2021. The HHH program is funded solely by tax-deductible contributions. Each year the program invites deer processors to apply, and contracts with selected lockers to accept donated deer from hunters. North Platte angler lands state record tiger trout

LINCOLN, Neb. – Walton “Ed” Moore of North Platte was bank fishing at the Sutherland Reservoir inlet March 11 when a tiger trout took the minnow he was drifting slowly on the bottom of the lake. He reeled in the 6-pound, 13-ounce trout, which set a state record for rod-and-reel. The fish measured 25¾ inches in length.
