Try Old West Action Shooting at Outdoor Education Center

LINCOLN – Try your hand at Old West action shooting at Lincoln’s Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center on Sundays from October through March.

In Shootout at Salt Creek, adults will compete in a timed stage of 10 pistol, 10 rifle and four shotguns rounds. The entry fee is $10 and participants will furnish their guns and ammunition. Youth ages 10-15 will shoot 10 .22 pistol, 10 .22 rifle and four .410 shotgun rounds for $4.

Cowboy attire is recommended but not required in this family-friendly activity. No gym shoes (except for medical reasons), baseball caps or T-shirts are allowed.

Competition will begin at 10 a.m.

Junior Olympic Archery Development – Mondays and Tuesday, October through December, 6:30 p.m.

Ladies Day at the Range – First and third Tuesdays in October, 6:30 p.m.

.22 Pistol League – Thursdays in October, 7 p.m.

Hunter Sight-In Weekends – Oct. 10-11, 17-18, 24-25, 10 a.m. on Saturdays, noon on Sundays

First Steps Pistol – Oct. 12, 19, 26, 6:30 p.m.

Introduction to Gun Safety and Technique for Young Shooters – Oct. 14, 21, 28, 5:30 p.m.

Introduction to Trapping – Oct. 15, 6 p.m.

Upland Bird Hunting Workshop – Oct. 21, 6 p.m.

Learn to Hunt Waterfowl – Oct. 22, 6 p.m.

Deer Hunting Workshop – Oct. 27, 6 p.m.

Adult Archery Lessons – Thursdays in October, 6 p.m.

Best Shots Rifle Marksmanship for Ages 10-16 – Tuesdays in October, 6 p.m.

Explore Archery – Fridays in October and Oct. 22, 29, 4:30 p.m.
