Join me this week on my WOWT 6 News outdoors/park segment (The Weekly Outdoor Report) when we preview the exciting living history weekend (May 3rd and 4th) at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park located on the east edge of Fort Calhoun. Fort Atkinson has fascinating history and is one of my favorite state historical parks in Nebraska!
Most likely the reason Fort Atkinson is so special to me is that Park Superintendent John Slader lets me borrow and use the U.S. Army’s 1820′s military uniforms for my various presentations about the fort! I always appreciate that John, and it’s more fun than fun should be allowed!
Here I am drilling with the living history soldiers.
Here I am on serious guard duty at the fort.
Don’t miss my outdoors/park segment which airs on Omaha’s WOWT 6 News LIVE on Thursday night at 6 p.m. CST during the station’s sportscast with Ross Jernstrom or Greg Ortiz.
If you’re unable to view the live version of the segment, video replays of it can be seen after the initial cast here. It can also be accessed on Digital Channel 6.2, Cox Cable Channel 120 or through a mobile app. Additionally, WOWT 6 runs The Weekly Outdoor Report on Saturdays later in the station’s hour-long 8 a.m. CST newscast. The WOWT 6 Sports Machine crew and I thank you for watching!
