Game and Parks working proactively to assess conditions at state park areas

LINCOLN, Neb. – While most state park areas across the state are open, some state parks, state historical parks, state recreation areas and wildlife management areas located along rivers and streams in eastern and central Nebraska remained temporarily closed following recent flooding. Hunters take to the field on pheasant opener

LINCOLN, Neb. – Hunters from around the country returned to rural Nebraska on Oct. 27-28 to partake in a coveted outdoor tradition – upland bird hunting during the 2018 season opener. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission staff contacted 1,040 hunters across the state while making bag checks. These hunters harvested 418 pheasants and 89 quail. Rains cause flooding on some southeast WMAs

LINCOLN, Neb. – Recent rains have caused flooding on some wildlife management areas (WMA) in southeast Nebraska. Water is over the west road leading into Yankee Hill WMA in Lancaster County, resulting in the road closure until water recedes. LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska youth got to experience an upland hunt as adult mentors took them afield for the state’s special youth pheasant hunt Oct. 21-22. The special hunt took place on 14 wildlife management areas (WMA), where the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission released 5,445 roosters Oct. 20.
