Deadline for multispecies lottery permit applications is July 5

LINCOLN, Neb. – Hunters have until July 5 to apply for a 2019-2020 multispecies lottery permit. Two types of permits are available: Super Tag and Combo. The Super Tag permit is valid in 2019 and 2020 for one elk of either sex, one antelope of either sex, one deer of either sex, and two turkeys (only toms and bearded hens may be taken in the spring). Commission to consider deer, antelope and elk hunting recommendations

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will consider recommendations for 2019 deer, antelope and elk hunting seasons when it meets April 24 at Ponca State Park. LINCOLN, Neb. – Mindell Rethwisch of Elkhorn and Troy Stonacek of Lincoln have been drawn as lottery winners of two Super Tag multispecies big game permits. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission drew the names July 13. Another Great Gobbler Experience in Nebraska!

I was fortunate enough to have another great gobbler experience this weekend here in Nebraska and was even able to bag yet another bearded bird in northern Douglas County yesterday! I had to really work to bag this adult gobbler with his thick 9-inch beard and 1-inch spurs. The toms were active but the birds were pretty well bunched up probably due to the weather. It’s frustrating when those big toms have their girlfriends (hens) right around them! It’s hard …
