U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service approves statewide teal season for Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska will have a statewide teal hunting season on a full-time basis beginning in 2018. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) recently approved a September teal season in the northern part of the state, ending a four-year experimental season. Since 2014, the USFWS has allowed Nebraska to have an experimental September teal season in northern Nebraska as long as hunters properly distinguished teal from other duck species. Commission Will Consider Early Teal Dates at July 16 Meeting in Sidney

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will consider 2015 early teal season dates at its meeting July 16 in Sidney. The commissioners will consider the following recommended season dates: Low Plains, Sept. 5-20; High Plains, Sept. 12-20. The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. at the Hampton Inn, 635 Cabela’s Drive. The benefits of Teal

At thirty minutes before sunrise this past Saturday one of my favorite events arrived in Nebraska – teal season.  The short season gives me an annual opportunity to renew the fondness I hold for this small duck and a chance to try out new excuses for missed shots.
