Game and Parks seeks public input on improvements to Cedar Valley WMA

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will host two meetings this month to seek input on improvements to the Cedar Valley Wildlife Management Area in southeastern Lincoln County that will make it easier for hunters to sight-in rifles and shoot targets. LINCOLN, Neb. – A portion of Branched Oak Wildlife Management Area in Lancaster County is closed to target shooting, effective immediately, for safety reasons. That closed area is south of West Raymond Road between NW 112th Street and NW 126th Street. Bassway Strip WMA Closed to Target Shooting

LINCOLN – Bassway Strip Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Buffalo County has been closed to target shooting effective immediately. The area has been closed because of safety concerns for neighboring landowners and area users, as well as persistent shooting-related litter accumulation. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is working to develop other target shooting opportunities in a more safe and controlled environment. Target shooting is permitted on WMAs unless restricted or prohibited by posted signs or by special area regulations.

LINCOLN – Target shooting is prohibited, effective immediately, on portions of Hamburg Bend Wildlife Management Area (WMA) south of Nebraska City in Otoe County because of safety issues. Target Shooting Prohibited at Three Lancaster County Public Hunting Areas

LINCOLN – Three public hunting areas in Lancaster County are being permanently closed to target shooting. As of Dec. 2, target shooting at Little Salt Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA), Little Salt Creek West WMA and Helmuth Public Access Area is prohibited. Target shooting has been banned in these areas because safety concerns. Target shooters are encouraged to shoot at the Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center at 4703 N. 44th St., Lincoln.

Rose Creek WMA Parking Lot Closed to Target Shooting

LINCOLN – The east parking lot on Rose Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA), located south of Fairbury in Jefferson County, is closed to target shooting because of vandalism and safety concerns.
