LINCOLN, Neb. – Rainbow trout stockings will not occur this spring at Elm Creek because high water has had a detrimental impact on trout habitat there. Until stream conditions improve, the likelihood of Elm Creek holding and supporting trout is impaired. With more stable water flows, habitat conditions should improve at Elm Creek, which is located east of Red Cloud in Webster County, and stocking can resume in the future. LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is giving young anglers in eastern Nebraska an opportunity to catch some “bonus-sized” channel catfish. Game and Parks on Aug. 14 stocked catfish ranging from 2 to 10 pounds in three lakes. LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is giving young anglers in southeastern Nebraska an opportunity to catch some larger channel catfish. Game and Parks later this week is stocking approximately 25 cats at Platte River State Park’s Jenny Newman Pond near Louisville and 200 fish at Bowling Lake in Lincoln. LINCOLN – Young anglers in the Omaha, Lincoln and Kearney areas have a chance to catch some larger stocked channel catfish this summer. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission recently planted some catfish 5 pounds and larger in those areas. Walleye Egg Collections to Begin April 4

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will collect spawning walleyes from Sherman Reservoir, Merritt Reservoir and Lake McConaughy in April. The collection goal to meet 2016 walleye stocking requests is approximately 78 million eggs. As of April 1, a designated area along the dam at Sherman is closed to bank anglers and boats following sunset. The collection at Sherman will begin the night of April 4. LINCOLN – More than 2,000 5- to 6-inch pallid sturgeon were stocked in the channelized portion of the Missouri River along Nebraska’s eastern border on Aug. 24. The stocking is part of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s recovery efforts for this federal- and state-listed endangered species. The pallid sturgeon were stocked in two locations. Paddlefish Stocking in Central Nebraska Canal System

This past week the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission stocked 990 paddlefish at Gallagher Canyon and Midway Canyon Reservoirs located south of Cozad.
