Upgrades completed at state park and recreation areas across Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has upgraded electrical campsite offerings, replaced aging water systems and other infrastructure, and upgraded or replaced shower houses and restrooms at dozens of state parks and recreation areas across Nebraska. Additionally, new features at state parks including lodging, an aquatic center, an interactive stream and more will provide park visitors with new experiences. Special deer hunts at Mahoney SP, Platte River SP, Schramm Park SRA

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is offering special antlerless deer hunting opportunities within Eugene T. Mahoney and Platte River state parks (SP), as well as Schramm Park State Recreation Area (SRA). Successful applicants will be issued a special access permit that allows them to hunt antlerless deer in designated areas of a park on certain dates, using specific equipment. State Park Pools to Stay Open Through Labor Day

LINCOLN – Public pools at five Nebraska state parks will remain open through Labor Day on Sept. 5, offering visitors extended summer fun. Pool hours are as follows: Chadron State Park – Open Aug. 28 from 1-3 p.m. and from 1-6 p.m. on Sept. 3-5. Pool admission is free Aug. 28. Eugene T. Game and Parks’ Kuhn Honored by State Park Directors

LINCOLN – Roger Kuhn, assistant director of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, was honored with a special award on Sept. 4 at the National Association of State Park Directors (NASPD) annual meeting in Omaha. Kuhn, of Ashland, was recognized for his special, extended efforts and contributions that advance the general goals of the NASPD. Swenson Named Parks Administrator at Nebraska Game and Parks Commission

LINCOLN – Jim Swenson has been named administrator of parks at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. He succeeds Roger Kuhn, who was promoted to assistant director for development in May.
