Road leading to Rock Creek Lake SRA reopens

LINCOLN, Neb. – The section of Rock Creek Road leading into Rock Creek Lake State Recreation Area and to Rock Creek State Fish Hatchery has been reopened. The road was assessed by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and cleared for reopening by the Dundy County Roads Department. Rock Creek Lake SRA, hatchery temporarily close after storm washes out road

LINCOLN, Neb. — Rock Creek Lake State Recreation Area and Rock Creek Hatchery in Dundy County are closed until further notice after a Thursday night storm washed out access roads. The storm dumped enough rain that Rock Creek Lake rose 10 inches, said Beau Licking, Enders and Rock Creek Lake SRA superintendent. Rock Creek Lake to be drawn down for fish renovation

LINCOLN, Neb. – Rock Creek Lake will be drawn down over the next few months in preparation for a fish renovation. The project at the Dundy County lake aims to improve water quality and sportfish potential by eliminating gizzard shad. When the water level is down, cedar trees will be used to build fish habitat structures in the lakebed. Rotenone will be applied this fall to remove undesirable fish.
