Louisville Lake 1A fish renovation completed

LINCOLN, Neb. – Lake 1A at Louisville State Recreation Area has been renovated to remove rough fish, especially silver carp. Lake 1A and Lake 1, which will be renovated the week of Sept. 13, were invaded by unwanted species during the 2019 spring flooding of the Platte River. Rock Creek Lake to be drawn down for fish renovation

LINCOLN, Neb. – Rock Creek Lake will be drawn down over the next few months in preparation for a fish renovation. The project at the Dundy County lake aims to improve water quality and sportfish potential by eliminating gizzard shad. When the water level is down, cedar trees will be used to build fish habitat structures in the lakebed. Rotenone will be applied this fall to remove undesirable fish. Playgrounds at Eugene T. Mahoney SP to close temporarily for renovation

LINCOLN, Neb. – The two outdoor playgrounds at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park (SP) will be closed temporarily starting Aug. 27 for renovation and installation of new equipment. The playgrounds will reopen once installation and surfacing are complete. Park guests may use playgrounds at Schramm Park and Louisville state recreation areas. A park entry permit is required of each vehicle entering these parks, including Mahoney SP.

Liberalized fishing regulations declared for Stagecoach Reservoir

LINCOLN, Neb. – Stagecoach Reservoir will be drawn down this fall for the construction of a new boat launch facility. In addition, the fishery will be renovated and a public salvage will be allowed. A 10-foot drawn-down will allow for the construction of a new, lighted boat ramp, gravel kayak launch, and a new breakwater to protect the ramp and increase access for shoreline anglers. Lake Yankton Fishery Renovation Set to Begin

LINCOLN – A renovation of the existing fish population in Lake Yankton, located below Gavins Point Dam, is set to occur on Sept. 10. The project includes drawing Lake Yankton’s water level down four feet and applying the chemical rotenone to eliminate the fish population. Record Missouri River flooding in 2011 allowed undesirable fish species to enter the lake. These fish species are now dominating the fishery and have destroyed the aquatic vegetation and water quality in this popular fishing …
