I saw a couple of items in a recent news release that will be of interest to anglers.  Let me spread the word: Niobrara State Park getting new river access Work will be completed this spring on a new Niobrara River kayak/canoe access at Niobrara State Park. This river access project includes a put-in/take-out for canoes and kayaks, a scenic overlook with interpretive signage and access road. Several park improvement projects this year will increase opportunity at Nebraska Game and Parks in northeast Nebraska, while others recently completed addressed lingering effects of the destructive 2019 flood. The following is a roundup of those projects: Summit Lake SRA getting new equestrian trail Work will be completed this spring on a 10-mile equestrian trail around Summit Lake near Tekamah. Temporary campsite closure scheduled at Niobrara SP

LINCOLN, Neb. – Standard and tent campsites at Niobrara State Park will close for road construction July 11 and reopen July 13 at 3 p.m. Contractors will mill the road cracks on the bottom of the 3-mile loop and mill the top half for paving. The RV campground will be fog-coated during this same period, and the road from the park entrance booth to the RV campground will be milled and resurfaced. Niobrara SP to be without power June 4

LINCOLN, Neb. – Electricity to Niobrara State Park will be shut off from 1-5 p.m. on June 4 so the Nebraska Public Power District can work on a substation near Lynch. The park’s pool will be closed all day and the cabins and RV campground will be without power. Power will be off from Lynch east to the Niobrara River. The park’s pool should be open by June 10.
