Big Game Will Be Discussed at Public Informational Meetings

LINCOLN – Hunters and landowners are invited to discuss big game issues with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission at upcoming public informational meetings across the state. Commission biologists will explain issues and take questions on topics such as deer management, deer damage and depredation permits, antlerless harvest, trophy management, and diseases. Governor Makes Appointments to Game and Parks Commission

LINCOLN – Gov. Pete Ricketts has reappointed Dick Bell of Omaha to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. In addition, the governor has appointed Dan Kreitman of Ceresco to the Commission. Bell was appointed to the Commission to represent District 2 (Douglas County) in December 2013. LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will hold a special meeting on Sept. 10 in Lincoln to discuss a memorandum of understanding between the Commission, Nebraska Public Power District and the Niobrara River Basin Alliance regarding the Spencer hydro facility and associated water rights. Commission Holds Meeting at Lake McConaughy

LINCOLN – Nebraska’s second largest tourism attraction, Lake McConaughy, was the location of the May 15 Nebraska Game and Parks Commission meeting. The meeting took place at the Visitor and Interpretive Center. The Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory (RMBO) reported on its work with partners to conserve birds in Nebraska and across the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains. LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will consider changes to big game regulations March 20 at a meeting in Lexington. The meeting begins at 8 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Express, 2605 Plum Creek Parkway. The public is invited. Most significant of the recommended big game amendments is an increase in the River Antlerless Unit deer permit quota from 7,000 to 12,000. Fisheries Involved in Honored Projects

LINCOLN, Neb. – Omaha’s Metropolitan Area Planning Agency recently received a 2013 Innovation Award for the Carter Lake Water Improvement Project from the National Association of Development Organizations. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission was among 16 agencies and organizations in Nebraska and Iowa involved in the project to improve water quality and recreation in the 315-acre lake.
