PATH has mentored hunting opportunities for youth over Christmas break

LINCOLN, Neb. – Plenty of Christmas break mentored hunting opportunities exist for youth under age 18 through the Passing Along the Heritage (PATH) Program. Lake Wanahoo, in Saunders County, has seven separate units totaling 1,067 acres available for mentored youth hunting. Many of them are available during the Christmas break. LINCOLN – This year marks the 20th anniversary of Nebraska’s mentored youth hunting program, which has grown to be one of the largest in the nation. Nebraska’s mentored youth hunting program began with six Pheasants Forever chapters – Cornhusker, Elkhorn Valley, Great Plains, Loup/Platte Ringnecks, Otoe County, and Republican Valley – in 1996. LINCOLN – Recent Hunter Education graduates have an opportunity to learn more about hunting and shooting this fall through two mentored hunting programs. A joint effort of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and Pheasant Forever and Quail Forever, these programs allow participants to take their new-found skills into the field, paired up with adult mentors.
