Memphis SRA temporarily closed because of storm damage

LINCOLN, Neb. – Access to Memphis State Recreation Area in Saunders County is closed until further notice while extensive tree damage from last weekend’s storm is cleared. No injuries were reported from the Saturday night storm that also damaged structures in the park. Campers in that area can find sites at Fremont Lakes SRA in Dodge County, Two Rivers SRA in Douglas County, and Eugene T. Six state recreation areas will allow fireworks on July 4

LINCOLN, Neb. – Visitors to six state recreation areas will be allowed to touch off fireworks on Independence Day, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Those visitors should always use caution when lighting fireworks. Branched Oak State Recreation Area (SRA) near Malcolm, Fort Kearny SRA near Kearney, Memphis SRA near Memphis, Fremont SRA near Fremont, Pawnee SRA near Emerald and Wagon Train SRA near Hickman will permit fireworks from 8 a.m. until midnight on July 4 only. Drinking water temporarily unavailable at Memphis SRA

LINCOLN, Neb. – Drinking water is temporarily unavailable for guests at Memphis State Recreation Area in Saunders County. Wells currently are not operational at the area because of groundwater conditions. Hydrants will be shut down until potable water is available. Guests are asked to bring their own water, or check availability of bottled water at the private concession located at the park, until the situation has been resolved.
