LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will consider a staff recommendation to authorize one lottery permit for the 2020 bighorn sheep season when it meets Aug. 28 at Fort Robinson State Park. Big game meetings scheduled across Nebraska

LINCOLN – Hunters and landowners are encouraged to offer their feedback on big game issues during the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s public informational meetings in December. Meetings are scheduled in each Game and Parks district. Biologists will explain and take questions on several topics, including deer management, deer damage and depredation permits, antlerless harvest, trophy management and diseases. Commission Approves Outdoor Trail Projects for Federal Funding

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved outdoor trail projects for 2016 federal funding through the Recreational Trail Program at its meeting Jan 14 in Lincoln. Funding is provided by legislative apportionment authorized under the Federal Highway Administration. The approved projects are: — City of Kearney, $250,000, to build a 5,400-foot-long, 8-foot-wide concrete Archway Trail with a 5-foot-wide crushed rock shoulder for use by pedestrians and bicyclists. — City of Genoa, $184,694, to build a 5,420-foot long, 8-foot …

Cowboy Trail Master Plan Meeting in Rushville Rescheduled for Dec. 16

LINCOLN – The public informational meeting scheduled for Dec. 15 in Rushville on the development of a master plan for the Cowboy Recreation and Nature Trail has been postponed until Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. because of inclement weather. Commissioners Discuss Parks’ Deferred Maintenance Needs

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commissioners discussed a plan to address deferred maintenance needs within the state park system May 30 at their meeting in Alma. In July, $17.35 million from the state budget will be placed in Game and Parks’ deferred maintenance fund, and $150,000 will be placed in a fund for the maintenance and operation of Arbor Lodge State Historical Park.
