LINCOLN, Neb. — Lake Minatare State Recreation Area remains closed to the public until the cause of a recent waterfowl die-off can be determined. The decision by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission was made out of the abundance of caution for human and animal health. Results from the test are expected by March 26, and information will be released when it becomes available at OutdoorNebraska.org. LINCOLN, Neb. — Lake Minatare State Recreation Area is closed to the public until further notice after a waterfowl die-off was reported to Nebraska Game and Parks Commission on March 12. Staff immediately responded and are collecting the waterfowl, which will be tested for cause of death. A winter storm also is expected to affect the area over the weekend. Birders Get Unique Opportunity at Lake Minatare

LINCOLN – The public will have a unique opportunity for viewing birds during an event at Lake Minatare State Recreation Area on Dec. 6. Employees of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will lead a viewing program at the lake, which has restricted access this time of year.
