Lake McConaughy SRA trash cleanup day is Nov. 5

LINCOLN – Lake McConaughy-area residents are encouraged to participate in a trash cleanup day Nov. 5 at the state recreation area (SRA). The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is partnering with Keep Keith County Beautiful and Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District (CNPPID) for this effort from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Commission staff will be headquartered at three locations around the SRA. LINCOLN – The Spring Park primitive campground at Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area has reopened. The campground was closed for cleanup after it sustained storm damage Labor Day weekend. The National Weather Service estimated winds in the area of more than 65 mph, which caused significant tree and road damage. LINCOLN – The Spring Park primitive campground at Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area is temporarily closed after sustaining storm damage Labor Day weekend. The National Weather Service estimated winds in the area of more than 65 mph, which caused significant tree and road damage. Lake Ogallala Modern Campground to Close Temporarily for Upgrades

LINCOLN – The modern campground at Lake Ogallala State Recreation Area (SRA) will be temporarily closed to the public starting April 8 for installation of new electrical pedestals. During the closure, 44 new electrical pedestals will be installed in the northern half of the campground. The upgrade will replace the existing pedestals, which were installed in the 1980s. The southern half of the campground was upgraded in 2012. Construction should take between two and three weeks. The campground will reopen …

Two ATV Jamborees Scheduled for Lake McConaughy SRA

Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area (SRA) will host ATV riding events April 4-6 and Oct. 3-5. Each weekend will include open riding, Poker Run, dealer displays, food vendors and live entertainment. Organizers are planning to add Sand Drag Races and Kids’ Barrel Races to the lineup. The event is open to all ATV/UTV riders age 18 and older.
