Papillion’s Lake Halleck among waters stocked with trout

LINCOLN, Neb. – Rainbow trout continue to be stocked in Nebraska’s urban waters to enhance spring fishing opportunities. The Grove Trout Rearing Station earlier this week stocked 1,200 trout in Papillion’s Lake Halleck and 1,200 in Nebraska City’s Steinhart Park East Pond. The Calamus State Fish Hatchery stocked 750 trout in Ord’s Auble Pond. Each of those lakes also received some additional trout from a surplus created when the Two Rivers State Recreation Area Trout Lake was not stocked for …

Larger channel catfish stocked for youth to catch

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is giving young anglers in eastern Nebraska an opportunity to catch some “bonus-sized” channel catfish. Game and Parks on Aug. 14 stocked catfish ranging from 2 to 10 pounds in three lakes. I got outta the office this week to help stock some fish.  Stocking fish is nothing unusual, we will stock over 30 million fish in over 250 Nebraska waterbodies again this year, and once in a while I lend a hand. Large Channel Catfish Stocked in Select Urban and Parks Waters

LINCOLN – Young anglers in the Omaha, Lincoln and Kearney areas have a chance to catch some larger stocked channel catfish this summer. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission recently planted some catfish 5 pounds and larger in those areas. Catfish Stocked at Lake Halleck for Family Fishing Night

Quick blog post to let you know that just yesterday at Lake Halleck in Papillion, 130  really nice 2 to 5 pound channel catfish (see pic below) were stocked from the Game and Parks Commission’s North Platte Fish Hatchery.
