LINCOLN, Neb. – Challenge yourself to harvest four upland bird species and complete a Nebraska Upland Slam. The Nebraska Upland Slam encourages hunters to try to take a ring-necked pheasant, sharp-tailed grouse, greater prairie chicken and northern bobwhite in the state. Dancing on the prairies

It has been another great year of viewing prairie chickens and sharp-tailed grouse as they performed their mating rituals on the prairie. The displays usually occur from mid-April through the first week of May. Hybrid grouse at Prairie-Chicken Festival
