Too Much Camo?

As I was rootin’ through all of camouflage clothing today, gettin’ ready to open Nebraska’s Fall Wild Turkey Hunting Season this week, I got to thinkin’ … Can a guy or gal who loves to hunt really accumulate too much camo? As an avid outdoor enthusiast for many, many moons here in the Cornhusker State, I’ll tell you that you can never, ever have too much gear, especially camouflage clothing patterns for the various hunting seasons, …

The Beauty of Turkey Alley

Ever driven Douglas County’s Rainwood Road from 60th to 72nd Streets just beyond the northern fringe of Omaha? It’s cool! In fact, it’s one of my favorite drives in the metro area. My photos hardly portray how scenic this drive really is. Nearly every time I drive the road (which is fairly often), I always see wild turkeys along it or on it! The locals have nicknamed this stretch of Rainwood “turkey alley.” If you happen to be up in …

On the Platte Close to Home

This past week, Game & Parks friends and I enjoyed kayaking and canoeing the Platte River just south/southwest of the Omaha-metro area and sure had a nice trip. Unlike most years in August, the Platte has a good amount of water, look! In your float trip plans, I would be sure to include the scenic stretch of the Platte from Schramm Park State Recreation Area to the Louisville Lakes State Recreation Area which is about 4.9 miles and takes roughly …
