Game and Parks Omaha office closed until further notice after fire

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Omaha service center will be closed until further notice. The office, located at 8495 Frederick St., was damaged when the Popcorn Shop, located in the same shopping center, caught fire early Monday morning. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Game and Parks staff were evaluating the extent of the damage to the Omaha office Monday morning. It is unclear how long the office will remain closed. In the meantime, …

Fisheries Involved in Honored Projects

LINCOLN, Neb. – Omaha’s Metropolitan Area Planning Agency recently received a 2013 Innovation Award for the Carter Lake Water Improvement Project from the National Association of Development Organizations. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission was among 16 agencies and organizations in Nebraska and Iowa involved in the project to improve water quality and recreation in the 315-acre lake. A Mega Meeting

Yesterday, we had one our Southeast Regional/District Mega Meetings of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission at Platte River State Park’s Mallet Lodge near Louisville. Monthly meetings (some with work integration) are held within each of the four districts the agency has. The mega meeting is held twice a year in the Commission’s Southeast District where all Game and Parks Commission staffers within or even outside of the region come to hear presentations on cutting edge, timely topics, get updates …
