LINCOLN, Neb. – Novices can learn the basics of ice fishing at three free Family Ice Fishing clinics in January. Fort Kearny SRA dump station temporarily closed

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Fort Kearny State Recreation Area (SRA) dump station will be closed for approximately 30 days for renovation and repairs beginning Oct. 23. Park visitors can use the Windmill SRA dump station located at the Gibbon exit off Interstate 80. Water still will be available at Fort Kearny SRA and campers can utilize the hydrants throughout the park to fill their fresh water tanks. Fort Kearny is located southeast of Kearney. The visitor center will open daily March 3 – April 9 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Staff will answer questions and direct visitors to viewing areas. LINCOLN – Young anglers in the Omaha, Lincoln and Kearney areas have a chance to catch some larger stocked channel catfish this summer. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission recently planted some catfish 5 pounds and larger in those areas.
