Living History Scheduled for May 31-June 1 at Fort Atkinson SHP

LINCOLN – Life at an 1820s military post will be depicted at Living History Weekend at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park (SHP) on May 31-June 1. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., volunteers will demonstrate period trades, such as blacksmithing, carpentry, tinsmithing and coopering, as well as crafts such as quilting, spinning and weaving. As a private and an infantryman from the 1820’s in the U.S. Army, I had the privilege of marching with men from Fort Atkinson’s Rifle Company and even pulling guard duty at the building of the Indian Agent this evening.
