Fort Atkinson SHP to Celebrate Independence Day with Living History

LINCOLN – Reenactors will portray the days’ events from 1824 during living history weekend July 2-3 at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park (SHP). To celebrate Independence Day, the interpretive volunteers will reenact daily events at the fort as recorded in a newspaper from that era. Living History Scheduled for May 2-3 at Fort Atkinson SHP

LINCOLN – Life at an 1820s military post will be depicted at Living History Weekend at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park on May 2-3. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors are encouraged to interact with volunteers demonstrating period trades such as blacksmithing, carpentry, tinsmithing and coopering, as well as crafts such as quilting, spinning and weaving. Fort Atkinson Living History Weekend

As a private and an infantryman from the 1820’s in the U.S. Army, I had the privilege of marching with men from Fort Atkinson’s Rifle Company and even pulling guard duty at the building of the Indian Agent this evening.
