Bonus Fish

We, the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission, will stock somewhere around 290,000 channel catfish into nearly 200 different waterbodies in the state this year.  Most of those fish will be around 9-10 inches long when stocked.  Included in the waters that will be stocked with those 290-some thousand channel cats will be many of the state’s relatively small, park, urban, and community lakes and ponds.  The fish stocked in those waters will be relatively easy to catch and located near a …

Easter Egg Hunt

It is that time of year again and Nebraska fisheries workers are on their annual Easter egg hunt–for walleye eggs.  If you missed this, here is the official news release: Game and Parks Commission to begin Walleye Egg Collection LINCOLN — The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission plans to begin collecting adult, spawning walleyes in late March. LINCOLN – Landowners and associations can enhance fishing opportunities in Nebraska by having their private waters stocked with fish. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission must receive stocking applications by Aug. 1. To receive fish, the body of water must meet the following requirements: — No other fish may be present in the body at the time of stocking. — It must be at least one-half surface acre in size. — At least 25 percent of the body must be …
