Hunters love to go afield hunting in Nebraska when a challenge is involved. A chance to win a shotgun in the experience only sweetens the deal. Upland, Duck Slam grand prize winners continue, start traditions

Hunters continued or started traditions with family and friends by participating in the Nebraska Upland and Duck slams during the past season. Two were named grand prize winners during ceremonies in mid-February. Faron Wickett, 50, of Norfolk, was named the Upland Slam grand prize winner, earning a Dickinson Arms Hunter Light Over and Under 28-gauge shotgun for his efforts to harvest Nebraska’s four primary upland game species. LINCOLN, Neb. – Kyle Charron knew he had a chance to be the first hunter to complete the Duck Slam this season. The 35-year-old Broken Bow man hunts the playa wetlands every October, typically harvesting multiple duck species each year. LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and Ducks Unlimited of Nebraska launched the state’s first Duck Slam in 2019. This challenged hunters to spend more time afield by harvesting four birds — an American wigeon, mallard, northern pintail and a teal – in Nebraska during the 2019-2020 season.
