Road within Schramm Park SRA partially closed

The main road through Schramm Park State Recreation Area, because of construction, is partially closed to vehicles until further notice. Both entrances to the park will remain open but the road will be closed to through traffic near the hatchery museum. Access will remain open to the hiking trails and picnic shelters, and foot traffic is allowed. For more information about the park, visit OutdoorNebraska.gov/schramm.

Burchard Lake road improvement project to begin Oct. 17

A road repair project at Burchard Lake Wildlife Management Area in Pawnee County is scheduled to begin Oct. 17. Access to roads, the campground and boat ramp may be closed temporarily. The north campground will be closed during this project, but the south campground will be accessible. Dirt work project set to start at Memphis WMA

Work is set to begin the week of Oct. 17 on a project at Memphis Wildlife Management Area in Saunders County. Users of the area should know some activities may be interrupted during construction. The dirt work will begin to prepare the site for construction of a new shop complex. This shop will serve as a field office for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Wildlife Division. Two campgrounds closed temporarily for construction at Sherman

The Thunder Bay and West Ridge campgrounds at Sherman Reservoir State Recreation Area near Loup City are closed temporarily because of construction. Mahoney SP’s conservatory to close temporarily for construction of new Venture Parks project

Eugene T. Mahoney State Park’s James Family Conservatory will be closed temporarily starting July 20 for the start of a yearlong construction project. The closure will accommodate the addition of the new Nature Center and Outdoor Education Classroom, a Venture Parks project. The tentative completion of the new project will be summer 2023. Summit Lake sediment basin reclamation set to begin

LINCOLN, Neb. – Summit Lake is being drawn down this week for a sediment basin reclamation project at the Burt County reservoir. Reclamation of the sediment basins on the south and west arms of the lake will begin during the fall. The south boat ramp will be modified to allow boat access during construction, which should be completed by Jan. 1, 2022. Dead Timber SRA campground access road reopens

LINCOLN, Neb. – Construction has been completed and the access road to the Dead Timber State Recreation Area campground has reopened. The campground access road at the Dodge County park area was temporarily closed earlier in June so that it could be widened. Other road improvements and flood repairs also were made. A park entry permit is required of each vehicle entering the park. Permits may be purchased at OutdoorNebraska.org.

Gracie Creek Pond rehabilitation project initial phase to begin

LINCOLN, Neb. – Anglers will notice construction work at Gracie Creek Pond on the upstream end of Calamus Reservoir in Loup County. The work is the initial phase of the pond’s rehabilitation project. Nebraska Department of Transportation crews will remove nearly 20,000 cubic yards of soil from the north and west side of the parking lot.
