Branched Oak SRA to host Community Fishing Event morning of July 9

Spend a post-holiday Saturday morning fishing with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission on July 9 at Branched Oak State Recreation Area. Game and Parks will hold a Community Fishing Event at Liebers Point from 9 a.m. to noon. Community Fishing Events provide opportunities for people of all ages who have never fished or have not fished in years to learn and enjoy the activity. LINCOLN, Neb. – Improvements at Pawnee State Recreation Area are just some of the upgrades guests at southeastern Nebraska state park areas will find this spring. The enhancements at Pawnee include electrical upgrade to 50-amp service at several campsites in the Lakeview Campground and the Area 3 Campground. LINCOLN, Neb. – Branched Oak State Recreation Area will be in the Halloween spirit Oct. 20 for its annual trick-or-treating event. Campers in South Shore Area 1 are encouraged to decorate their campsites and hand out treats to kids from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Visitors must enter Area 14 (south end of the dam), where parks staff will transport them to and from Area 1 via hay racks. LINCOLN, Neb. – Visitors to six state recreation areas will be allowed to touch off fireworks on Independence Day, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Those visitors should always use caution when lighting fireworks. LINCOLN, Neb. – The dump station at Area 1 at Branched Oak State Recreation Area (SRA) is currently closed. The dump station is closed for extensive repairs to the area’s septic system. Park staff anticipate the closure to last for some time. Dump stations in areas 4 and 11 remain open. Park staff recommend campers plan for longer waits than normal.
