Nebraska Reports No Boating-Related Deaths in 2013

LINCOLN – There were no boating-related deaths in Nebraska in 2013. The state had not gone without at least one fatality in a year since it began tracking boating accidents in 1965, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The number of reported boating accidents also decreased, from 44 in 2012 to 31 in 2013. “That’s what diligent law enforcement, coupled by expanded, excellent boating safety education, can do,” said Herb Angell, Nebraska’s boating law administrator. Make Safety Top Priority When Boating Over Holiday

LINCOLN, Neb. – Remember, life jackets save lives. A boating incident July 2 resulted in two children being thrown from the tube they were riding. Both were wearing life jackets and neither was seriously hurt. The July 2 incident occurred at a private lake near North Platte. Game and Parks Urges Safety While Boating

LINCOLN, Neb. – Boaters should not take safety for granted. Since May 18-24 is National Safe Boating Week, the Boating Safety Section of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission suggests ways boaters may reduce the risk of incidents and help ensure a safe and enjoyable day on the water.
